Mykola Tomenko addressed the Oleksandr Medvedko, General Procurator of Ukraine with the Appeal to investigate the Fact of Dishonour concerning the Ukrainian National Symbols.
M. Tomenko reminded that in accordance with the UNIAN announcement, on 24 January of the current year, Kostiantyn Zarudny, the Deputy of Lenin regional council of Sevastopol city burned in public the passport of the citizen of Ukraine explaining it by the fact that "he is not willing to be a citizen of the state where fascists are honoured with the orders", speaking of the awarding of Stepan Bandera with the order of Hero of Ukraine.
M. Tomenko as one of the authors of the Law on strengthening of the criminal liability for the facts of dishonour concerning the state symbols of Ukraine, adopted in the last year, emphasized: "One may support or not support the policy of the President of Ukraine, though it is inadmissible to dishonour and contemn the Ukrainian state and its symbols."
The Deputy Chairman declared that irrespective of such an action motives, the public burning of the passport of the citizen of Ukraine is an outrage fact over the state symbols of our state and comes with the preview of the article 338 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
